Sapphire's DisplayPort-to-DVI adapter enables Eyefinity on DisplayPort-less monitors

Eyefinity. It's a feature in all of AMD's new 5800-series and 5700-series GPUs which enables the use of three monitors on a single video card. Unfortunately, it's not as easy as just plugging in three different monitors into any of the four available display ports. Eyefinity requires the use of the two dual-DVI ports plus a single DisplayPort-out port. And you know how rare DisplayPort is found on monitors these days.

To eliminate this hindrance, Sapphire has introduced an active DisplayPort-to-DVI adapter, so you can use a third monitor via dual-link DVI instead of DisplayPort for Eyefinity. It will cost around $60-70 if Nordic Hardware isn't mistaken, but it's a lot cheaper than having to buy an entirely new monitor with a DisplayPort connector.

Preview: DIRT 2 Demo--gameplay sample and benchmarks with Radeon HD 4770

The demo version of the highly anticipated game DiRT 2 recently became available and I just got the chance to try it out. It. Is. Awesome.

I just spent some time running benchmarks and trying out the races, and so far I am not disappointed. It will become available in less than two weeks but if you just can't wait anymore, help yourself to a free copy of the DiRT 2 demo.

PCHub Gilmore offers pre-sale of Sapphire Radeon HD 5970 for 32,500 Pesos ($690 USD)

Seems like I'm not the only one who thinks the Radeon HD 5970 should be sold for so cheap! PC hardware store PCHub in Gilmore has just listed Sapphire's reference Radeon HD 5970 for pre-sale and their asking price is well north of the projected SRP of Asus Philippines. While Asus may start offering their EAH5970 for only 21,990 Pesos, Sapphire's is available for 32,500 Pesos or about $690 USD. And you still have to wait for it--for two to three weeks probably. Coupons for DIRT 2 and Battleforge (two of the world's first DX11 games) are included with the HD 5970. So, 32,500 Pesos a piece. Personally, I think I'd rather enjoy setting that same amount of money on fire or watching it get flushed down the toilet in front of me. Radeon HD 5970 GPU set to wipe the floor with competition, starting now

Today, the Radeon HD 5970, AMD's dual-GPU flagship graphics card, becomes the new GPU to beat, flooring the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 295 in a set of early benchmarks posted online. This comes in the form of confidential AMD presentation slides which show the Radeon HD 5970's performance in games at max resolution (2560x1600) and max settings compared with the GeForce GTX 295. The full specifications of the Radeon HD 5970 have also been revealed now, and it looks like it's going to be the ultimate graphics card money can buy for quite a while.
