Emblaze Mobile launches Linux-based 'First Else' phone

First Else is the name of a new phone which offers a "unique user experience" according to its makers. Running Linux-based software called "Else Intuition" and featuring a UI called "sPlay" (developed in partnership with once Palm OS-owners, Access), the First Else phone offers multi-tasking with a few interesting twists.

First, it is said that its features run completely autonomously of each other. Meaning that it operates in the same way a computer does, with each and every program on it able to run without interruption from other programs that are running at the same time. It also offers location-based reminders (think wake me up with this certain song when my bus gets to the grocery store) with its built-in GPS, and there's also a 5-megapixel camera, 3.5-inch capacitive touchscreen display, 3G, and onboard Wi-Fi.

It is slated to become available in the second quarter of 2010, first in Israel from Emblaze Mobile. It is a pretty interesting phone in terms of features on paper, but whether or not it supports third-party applications is currently unknown.
