2010 will be the year of the Android smartphone

DigiTimes is reporting that come 2010, there will be a "flood" of Android-powered smartphones from nearly all current mobile phone manufacturers, which includes Samsung, Sony Ericsson, LG Electronics, HTC and Motorola. The Garmin-Asustek combo is also expected to launch new Android smartphones. Here's a quick list of Android phones to expect in 2010.

  • Samsung Galaxy Spica i5700
  • Motorola Cliq/Dext and Motus
  • Sony Ericssion Xperia X10
  • HTC Liquid (with Snapdragon CPU)
  • ...and a few models from LG and Garmin-Asus

The report also mentions that by the end of 2009 there will be 7-8 models of Android smartphones in Taiwan's local market, while it may double during the first quarter of 2010. So if you're wanting to buy any currently available Android smartphones for Christmas, don't. It might be worth waiting for early next year to see if there's anything better.
